Project managing construction projects requires an overview of the entire process, from inception to completion. This course aims to provide students with a framework for understanding project management in the construction industry and, in particular, the role of the project manager and the associated needs of the client. This course is aimed at professionals or graduates, wishing to pursue a career as a project manager in the construction industry. It’s suitable for professionals already working in the broad construction industries, who aspire to senior management positions. Additionally, this course is suitable for undergraduate (honours) students in related subject areas, looking to progress to study a managerial and technical postgraduate programme. Students will increase their knowledge and understanding of the systems and processes necessary to achieve successful project outcomes, including legal and contractual constraints, and people management skills. Students will cover project briefing, explore design and development issues, and develop the skills to create appropriate procurement strategies.
